How Our Application Process for Internships & Theses Works
Within the Axelent Group, we offer the opportunity to apply for both internships and thesis projects through two different types of processes.
- General Application of Interest
We always have an open listing for internships and thesis projects where you can submit a spontaneous application. Applications are reviewed periodically, but since it is open year-round, we may not always have opportunities available at the time. Therefore, you should not expect continuous feedback on this application.
- Active Postings for Specific Areas
When we are looking for interns or thesis projects within a certain area or for a specific challenge, we publish targeted postings. If you find one that matches your interests and skills, we encourage you to apply there – even if you have already submitted a general application. In the specific application, we ask you to describe in more detail why you are interested and how your profile matches the assignment.
From Thesis Project to Career Start
What’s it like to do your thesis at Axelent? And how can it pave the way for an exciting career?
We spoke with Joel Nilsson, a Production Engineer at Axelent AB. He started his journey with us as a thesis student and is now a valued member of the team.
He shares his experience of the natural transition from thesis project to full-time employment, how he developed during the work, and the insights he still applies in his job today. Additionally, he talks about the best parts of working at Axelent – where colleagues and the variety of tasks are in focus. Read the interview with Joel here! 👇
What’s the best part about working at Axelent?
The colleagues and the variety of tasks. People make Axelent, and the icing on the cake is that you get to work on a mix of different assignments.
How would you describe your journey from thesis project to employment with us?
It felt natural. The time spent on-site and in discussions about approaches made it feel like a natural step to start working within the Axelent Group.
How did you develop during your thesis project?
During my thesis project, we had a lot of freedom to focus on what we thought was important, which meant taking significant responsibility for keeping to the schedule. I also developed my ability to take responsibility for ensuring that the work I did created real value.
What skills or insights did you gain that you still benefit from today?
I learned that data needs to be of good quality to be relevant. In other words, if you work with poor-quality data, you’ll get poor results, no matter how good your model is. It’s important to prepare carefully in order to extract relevant information that can then be used in the next step.
Was there anything that surprised you about Axelent – something that was different from what you expected?
As a new employee, it can feel challenging to need help finding the right person or the right room, but here at Axelent, the staff were very accommodating, which made it easy to feel like part of the team.
What Our Former Students Say
-
I really appreciated the training I received and the opportunity to see how HR work functions at different levels within an organization. It was also very rewarding to have my own smaller projects and to try out different aspects of HR. The planning was well thought-out, and I felt like part of the team from day one! Following my supervisor and seeing how she works with employer branding was both inspiring and educational.
